CATEGORY:
Top Coated Carton

COMPANY:
Alcan Packaging

ENTRY:
Kent Super Lights

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
Seven colors plus varnish on 10-point SBS. Well printed with good vignettes. The Japanese/Chinese characters are very clear.

CATEGORY:
Laminated Carton

COMPANY:
Smurfit-Stone, Muncie

ENTRY:
Tide

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
Four-colors with one color backprint and EB adhesive, printed on claycoated recycled board with film lamination in-line. A striking sample with solid colors. The small type is clean and clear and registration is good.

CATEGORY:
Film/Film Flexible Package-Process

COMPANY:
Printpack, Inc.

ENTRY:
Perugina Biscotti

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
Six-color job-3 process colors on Saran coated polyester. The gold printing was highlighted due to the difficulty in printing it. The halftones are good and vignettes smooth.

CATEGORY:
Film/Film Flexible Package-Line

COMPANY:
Diversapack

ENTRY:
Clinique

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
Three-color on metalized PP laminated to PE. Logo "CLINIQUE" reversed out of both the white and orange. Very good solid coverage of the orange with no fringe of the white underprint. Reversed out lettering extremely sharp and well defined.

CATEGORY:
Foil/Film Flexible Package

COMPANY:
Printpack

ENTRY:
Bertolli Meals

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
Eight-color job. 7-colors plus pattern white on a 5-ply structure for the freezer case. Rich purple color with the hint of the Italian countryside in the background. Good ink coverage and well defined black lettering.

CATEGORY:
Paper/Film Flexible Package

COMPANY:
WRICO Pkg. Div.

ENTRY:
Wrigley Spearmint

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
Seven-color job printed on 55 gauge OPP and solventless laminated in line to a paper/poly/foil structure. Nice printing. The silver holds up the edge definition of the lettering. The judges were impressed with registration of the silver around the main title, considering the angles.

CATEGORY:
Foil/Paper Flexible Package

COMPANY:
Catty Corporation

ENTRY:
Klondike

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
Six-color job plus cold seal printed on aluminum foil wax laminated to MG paper followed by embossing. A bright sample made all the more difficult by the embossing. The package was technically challenging with good eye appeal.

CATEGORY:
Pouches

COMPANY:
Nordenia USA

ENTRY:
Advance Brand Steak Fingers

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
Six-colors printed on 48 gauge PET solventless laminated to white opaque PE. There is good ink coverage in the red and the lay of ink is excellent. The registration is good and the bag has good eye appeal.

CATEGORY:
Bags

COMPANY:
Sonoco, Winnipeg Mb

ENTRY:
Planters Peanut Butter Bites

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
Six-color printed on BOPP laminated to paper. Outstanding ink coverage with great density. Striking graphics are further highlighted by impeccable register.

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
The black lettering is sharp and the tone graduation is very good. The metallic brilliance compliments the visual appeal of the finished container.
