7-8 Colors plus varnish printed on 10 point, International paper non-tobacco CIS board with inks by Sun Chemical on a Bobst press. The unique combination of Pearl and metallic inks with optical brighteners produced the desired results. The judges commented on the nice clean samples and that the Japanese characters were reproduced well crisp, clean and well defined. The silver ink has laid down well and the solids are even and well produced.

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
8 Colors (4-process & 4-line) reverse printed on a lamination consisting of 48 ga PET/ink/LDPE/Metallized PET/LDPE Sealant Film using Lamiall inks by INX on a Rotomec Rotopak 3000-2 press. The judges commented that this was a nice bright and busy sample and the dramatic use of color adds to the overall effect. The solid colors are well produced. Printed on a metallized film adds to the eye appeal. The images would certainly appeal to the consumer and the black type is very well produced.

Foil/Film Lamination-Line

COMPANY:
Printpack, Inc.

ENTRY:
Splenda Blend

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
9 Colors printed on a polyethylene/foil lamination using inks from Sun Chemical on a Schiavi press. A very bright sample with the small orange type being well produced and very legible. The white product is difficult to produce, but nicely done.

WINNER

CATEGORY:
Paper/Film Lamination

COMPANY:
Printpack, Inc.

ENTRY:
Community Coffee Holiday Pack

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
8 Colors printed on a paper PET film lamination using Flint Ink on a Schiavi press. A nice looking sample. The images are clean and clear as is the type. Keeping two clean background screen values with metallic ink is difficult, but this is well done. The background “grey” images lend atmosphere to the sample. The solid red looks good and the gold, although not the easiest to print is well done.

HONORABLE MENTION

CATEGORY:
Foil/Paper Lamination

COMPANY:
American Packaging

ENTRY:
Treasure Cove Blue Cheese

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
Lacquer and washcoat plus7 Colors printed on foil laminated to 35# CIS. The blue background is well done and looks good and the fine details in the life like print of the blue cheese graphic add realism to the package. The blue type is crisp and clean and the reversed out images are also well done.
