At its February 21st Board Meeting Laura Hatch was appointed Executive Director, PLGA Educational Foundation.
Laura Wayland-Smith Hatch attended SUNY Binghamton/Harpur College studying anthropology. She has lived in Japan and Mexico and served on the board of directors of the American School in Japan and Colegio Maria Montessori. During her three-year residency in Japan, she worked as a freelance photographer and she served as the Children’sTheatre of Tokyo’s Publicity Coordinator for all their English-language publications.
For five years, she was a partner in Horizons International, an international relocation consulting firm, assisting expatriate families with their moves overseas. Clients included Xerox Corporation, Eastman Kodak, Bausch & Lomb, Schlegel Corporation, and Oneida Limited.
Since 1989, she has owned Salmon Creek Publishing, a small firm that provides customized design and marketing services for small businesses and nonprofit organizations.
In 1998, Laura joined the Gravure Association of America (GAA), serving as the Director of Communications for the association and Editor-in-Chief of GRAVURE Magazine. During her tenure with GRAVURE, she was the winner of APEX Awards (2001-2006) for Publication Excellence.
In February 2004, she was named the Executive Director of the Gravure Education Foundation (GEF) where she managed a $1 million endowment fund and oversaw educational program development and university/industry relations.
