Spring 2005 PLGA Global Technical Achievement Awards Winners
The PLGA Global would like to thank the companies who submitted entries for a 2004 Technical Achievement Award. This is the third year for Technical Achievement Awards, and the submissions received this year were every bit as impressive as those received last year. The judges: Dan Nolan, Smurfit Stone; Randy Butler, U.S. Flexibles; Ed Kozlowski, Alcan; and Dan Leeds, Technical Graphics Inc. accepted entries from vendors for two categories.
The judges’ place the submissions into one of the three award categories: Pre-press, Pressroom, and Production Materials prior to the selection process. This year there were no entries for production materials.
Award winners were chosen solely from the committee’s acceptance of the concept and the information as supplied by the vendor.
This year’s award for Technical Achievement in the pre-press area goes to:
Max Daetwyler - for the Vision 3 engraving head. A low cost speed and quality upgrade for existing engravers.
This year’s award for Technical Achievement in the pressroom goes to:
Hurletron - for the Next Generation ESA. A complete redesign of ESA that meets UL 913 safety standards.
Finally, the PLGA Global expects the entries for next year’s Technical Achievement Awards to again be very competitive. We know that every supplier to the industry has new and innovative products that no matter how simple, small or inexpensive, may have the potential to bring about incremental improvement to the industry.
When you fill out the award registration form, there’s nothing like too much information! The judges want to know everything about your product (some general idea as to the selling price would also be a big plus) to give it its full weight in the judging.
Again, thanks for the submissions and let’s keep seeing those new innovations. |
