A series of four pack wine cooler carriers printed with 7 colors plus UV varnish printed on .019” thick carrier craft manufactured from 100% recycled fiber stock.

The use of silver/grey to contrast with the greens of the background works well. All of the reversed and normal type is legible and the red Seagram’s logo stands out. A nice carton with die cutting of a reasonably complex shape.

Film/Film Lamination - Process

COMPANY:
Sonoco Flexible Packaging

ENTRY:
M&M Holiday Message

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
9 Colors consisting of 3 process and 6 line colors form this unique structure. It is comprised of OPP/ink/metallic ink/adhesive/clear LLDPE. The use of special metallic inks eliminates the need for demetallization in specific areas, providing a more environmentally sound package. The judges commented that the print quality and registration were good. The silver is especially well done, the solids are nice and the black type is easily legible. A very nice package.

WINNER

CATEGORY:
Film/Film Lamination - Line

COMPANY:
Nordenia USA, Inc.

ENTRY:
Oberto
Teriyaki Beef Jerky

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
8 Colors reverse printed on 50 gauge Saran coated Polyester and laminated with solvent free adhesive. The design was produced with one overall white color and seven spot colors to achieve the desired results. This is a nice sample with vivid reds, yellows and greens making use of the line colors. There are several different screen percentages in the orange and Oberto red spot colors to achieve these results.

WINNER

CATEGORY:
Paper/Film Lamination

COMPANY:
Sonoco Flexible Packaging

ENTRY:
M&M Star Wars

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
8 Colors, 4 process and 4 line printed on a laminated substrate. The laminated substrate structure consists of Lacquer/PET/adhesive/LDPE/Paper and cold seal. A very busy set of samples that provide a promotional tie into Star Wars. The samples all show good ink coverage, and the M&M logo is consistent between all of the samples. The small type is legible and the registration is good.

WINNER

CATEGORY:

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
7 Colors printed on Dunkote. The reversed out type is clean and legible. The solid red is good and the gold adds a little class to the package. The main illustration is good with lifelike chicken and salad and the light process areas are commendable. A nice print job on a difficult paper substrate.

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:
6 Colors reverse printed on 48 gauge Polyester and laminated with solvent free adhesive. The company commented that a complex set of multiple color, opposing vignette screens were used to create the background color on this design. The judges commented that this was another example of a pouch with plenty of color and action. The illustration is bright with a good reproduction of the food. The opposing vignettes give a smooth transition from blue to yellow. All of the type is well produced and very clear. A truly outstanding example of gravure printing.
